THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY (ESA) is a multi-national organisation engaged in space science, research, technology and applications activities. THE EUROPEAN SPACE OPERATIONS CENTRE of ESA (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany operates ESA's satellites, according to their mission objectives, thanks to an extensive worldwide network of ground stations and supporting communication systems. Since 1967, ESOC has successfully conducted 54 missions for ESA and other agencies and ranks as one of the leading satellite operations centres in the world.
